5 Signs Your Hot Tub Needs Servicing or Repair

A hot tub is a big investment, therefore the proper and continuous maintenance is essential in order to have a long-lasting hot tub. Below we list a few early warning signs to look out for showing that there may be a problem with your hot tub. Knowing these signs is key to prevention and future problems.

Temperature Fluctuates

If you do not manually change the temperature of the water, the temperature should stay steady as long as you have a high-quality hot tub cover that fits properly. Once the water temperature starts to change or gets colder it could be a sign of the heater malfunctioning.

Jet Pressure Decreases

If you start to notice the pressure of the jets is decreasing, this could be a sign of a clogged filter. Removing the filter and replacing it is cheaper than possible more costly future issues that can arise.

Algae Buildup

If you start to notice black or green slime on the walls of the hot tub or under the cover, the water chemistry needs to be checked. The proper chemicals will need to be added. Also, if the seats begin to feel slippery there can be algae build up as well. If you are not knowledgeable as to what the water chemistry settings should be, take a water sample to the nearest pool store.

Bad Odor

A strong odor could mean the water is contaminated. An immediate fix is a must. Check the drains, filter and pumps to make sure they are not clogged. Clogging can cause buildup and proper water circulation to decrease.

Check for Leaks

Periodically it is essential for a hot tub owner to check for leaks. If you see any water where it should not be, no matter how minor always get it checked. Leaks can lead to a major costly repair. They are best to find soon.
