With so much variety available on the market for swimming pools, it can be a little challenging to know which one to go with or what options are available to you. In choosing a swimming pool, the questions you need to consider are who is going to be using it, what is it going to be used for, and how often. A swimming pool is a huge investment after all so it needs to be able to meet your unique needs.
Above Ground Pools
A Luzerne above ground swimming pool is often the most cost effective of all your options and is easier to winterize than an in-ground pool. Still, above ground pools come with a limit in size, shape and depth. That aside, they aren’t made to last nearly as long as an in-ground pool is due to their vinyl liners. If you are simply looking for an inexpensive pool, then an above ground pool is probably what you are looking for.
Unlike above ground pools, Luzerne in-ground pools offer a much larger variety of options from everything to size, shape, material, and landscaping. Due to their versatility and durability, they are a serious investment that once installed, is there for life. However, this also means that a home with an in-ground pool with be much more valuable on the market.
In-ground pools can either be vinyl-lined, concrete, or fiberglass:
Concrete pools – these are truly custom made and can easily be made into any shape or size needed. However, they do take a little more time and money to install. Still concrete is the most durable material and will hold up the best.
Fiber glass pools – these are made from a pre-molded fiberglass ‘bowl’ that are inserted into a hole. They are limited in size and shape, but tend to be both durable and cost effective. That aside, they are the easiest to maintain since fiber glass is resistant to algae and bacteria.
Vinyl pools – these tend to be a bit more limited in size and shape which includes a rectangular or L-shaped format. This one of the most cost effective and comes in several different patterns and colors. However, it can also be damaged by pets’ nails or other types of sharp objects.
