Is the Fall a Good Time to Build A Pool?

Many people love autumn. The leaves change color and begin to fall. The fall decorations come out, and you begin to wear those amazing cozy sweaters. You get to take your kids apple picking and ride on hayrides. You also begin planning for the holidays.

Fall in Pennsylvania is not the time of year when people enjoy their pools. But someone may be thinking about getting one

A lot of people ask, “Is the fall a good time to build a pool?” The answer is yes.

Fall Means Sunshine and Dry Conditions

In Pennsylvania, fall is the perfect time to build a swimming pool and put in landscaping. Fall is a great time of the year to plant trees, shrubs, and flowers around your pool. That way, the roots have time to grow before the cold weather sets in. Starting a pool in the fall means that the ground will be dry.

The fall is generally one of the drier seasons in Pennsylvania. Depending on what type of pool you want, you may have concrete that will need time to cure. The drier the conditions are, the faster the concrete will cure.

Inground Pool Specials

Fall is one of the best times of the year for pool specials. Pool contractors have discounts and specials during the fall and winter. That’s because they have extra materials they haven’t used. They may want to buy newer materials and models.

Pool contractors may also raise their prices during the new year. If you begin your pool in the fall, it’ll be ready for you when the spring turns into summer. If you begin the construction in the fall to take advantage of the specials, you can also avoid winter storms.

How Long Does Pool Construction Take?

Pool construction time varies with the type of pool. Each type has a different construction timeline.

Fiberglass

Fiberglass pools come ready-made for your yard. A crane brings the pool shell into your yard and sets it into a hole that you have already dug. Pool builders can install fiberglass pools in three days, which makes them ideal for fall installation. Fiberglass pools are also the most affordable type of inground pool. Fiberglass pools are durable, long-lasting, and use fewer chemicals than other types.

However, it is important to note that fiberglass pools don’t come in a lot of different shapes and sizes. You also need to make sure you have enough space in your backyard for a crane to get through.

Vinyl

Most vinyl pools take between one and three weeks to install. It is the second most popular type of inground pool installation. Contractors excavate a hole in the ground and, then, make a steel or aluminum frame. Attached to the frame is the vinyl.

Like fiberglass pools, vinyl pools come in a small variety of shapes and sizes. Nearly all vinyl pools are rectangular. One of the biggest problems with vinyl pools is that the liner can rip. Make sure that if you choose a vinyl pool, your liner is 20 millimeters thick or thicker.

Concrete

Concrete pools are the most popular type of pool. They are more expensive, but they are also the longest-lasting. You can also get any size, shape, and style of pool you want. However, you need to know that concrete pools take the longest to build.

If you want to get your pool in before the winter, you will need to start as early as possible in the fall. Depending on the temperature and the weather, concrete pools can take up to 12 weeks to install.
